Because no holiday cookie party is complete without sugar cookies cut into cool shapes. And because who doesn’t love pink icing that gets its color from cherry juice?
- 4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ cup Dairy sour cream
- 1sp vanilla
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Healthy tsp of softened butter
- 2 tbsp cherry juice
- 2-4 tbsp milk or water
Beat sugar, butter, egg until fluffy. Beat in sour cream and vanilla until smooth. Gradually mix in dry ingredients, and form a ball. Refrigerate several hours or overnight. Roll out, cut in shape of choice and bake 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes 7-8 dozen.
To make icing, combine powered sugar, vanilla, softened butter, cherry juice and milk or water.
(Note: add milk or water very carefully one at a time to desired consistency. You want this thick enough to hold on cookie. If it gets too thin, just add a bit more powdered sugar. Too thick? add more cherry juice)Recipes Home
