At New Leaf Community Markets, the health and wellness of our staff, customers, and community has always been our #1 priority. We’re beyond grateful to have your trust for the past 34 years, and as we start to see some gradual reopenings in our communities, we will continue to do our part to ensure that we’re navigating changes carefully and with the safety of everyone in mind. Fresh, seasonal foods from our local partners are arriving daily, and we’re doing everything we can to ensure that you don’t miss out on any of the deliciousness, including:

We’re incredibly proud of our staff for their continued service to our community and continue to actively adjust our pay and benefits policies to ensure they’re supported. Staff members have been supplied cloth face coverings for required use while working in-store, and we’re conducting symptoms checks at the start of every shift. We’ve offered ongoing support to staff members who have tested positive for COVID-19, this includes paying for their leave of absence and covering the cost of any necessary COVID-19 testing.

We’ve reserved time daily at all locations prior to opening to the general public for Community Care Hour, a time to provide space and any extra accommodations to our high-risk community. We’re following the CDC’s guidance to require facial coverings for all store visitors aged 12 years and older. Additionally, we’ve thoughtfully made space in our stores to allow safe distancing between customers and staff by limiting store capacity, creating one-way aisles, installing directional signage and protective plexiglass screens at checkout. For customers wanting to skip the store altogether, we’ve expanded our grocery delivery and curbside pickup service.

In addition to our usual rigorous sanitation and food safety procedures, we’re disinfecting staff and common areas and surfaces more regularly. We’ve also temporarily suspended in-store product returns and classes, and deli seating areas, bottle redemption, and sampling stations will remain closed at this time.

 

 


These are unprecedented times, and our community, like many around the world, has been touched by this global pandemic. After confirming that members of our staff at our Aptos location tested positive for COVID-19, we temporarily closed the location,
notified the local health authorities, and paid all staff while they were recovering at home. While we were not required to close the store, we chose to for the health and safety of our community. The store was deep cleaned in partnership with a third-party sanitation company before reopening to the public.
