Guinness Stout Cake


  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup stout beer
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 pounds powdered sugar
  • 1/3-1/2 cup stout beer
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla


  1. Preheat oven to 350. Place all cake ingredients in a large bowl. Stir together with a whisk or spatula. Bake according to box directions. Let cool completely before icing.
    For the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, stout beer, and vanilla in a medium bowl until smooth and free of lumps. Spread evenly on the cake.
